Without finding this thread, I downloaded a new copy of the old Mouseworks 3 installer, ran the uninstaller off that, restarted, ran the installer, restarted again and the trackball works just Their tech-support is outsourced, so the grammar is a little off:Thank you for contacting Kensington Technical Support. No SL compatibility. I will be very curious to see how this all shakes out, given that it looks like we'll have buy a piece of shareware to get the functionality we want... You should be able to adjust the speed of the cursor just fine, though it won't be as fast as it would with MW software.

It works on the Lion just plugging it in, but the Mouseworks settings do not. All of the buttons are programmable with different kind of clicks, including launching files or apps.
